Author's Note: Okay I found this challenge and decide to give it a go. I'm setting it in season 5 of Buffy (so, shudder, she's still dating Agent Moron a.k.a Riley) and season 2 of Angel (So we still have our little Darla and Dru problem but it's before he's sacked everyone). Okay, here is the challenge:

Buffy and Angel's future daughter is sent into the past by the PTB (Powers That Be) to reunite the couple.

1. The daughter must be named Claire.
2. Angel is still in LA so you'll have to make up a situation that makes him leave for Sunnydale.
3. Buffy is still dating Riley. (ick..)
4. Claire can't just flat out tell them who she is.
5. She really doesn't like Riley.
6. Buffy and Angel get reunited, Riley gets dismissed and Claire returns to her time. (of course it has to end like that....)

"Are you clear on what you must do?" the Monk in a robe asked Claire.

"Yep. I'll arrive in Sunnydale and get my mum and dad together. Easy." Claire replied confidently, looping her long black hair behind her ear.

"Remember what the Powers That Be told you, you can not reveal who you are," the Monk reminded her.

"Yeah, got it. How come they didn't come and see me off?" she asked innocently.

"They have warriors all over the world to see to," the Monk informed her "now are you ready to go?"

Claire took a deep breath, "Yeah." The monk waved his hands over the air in front of him. The air began to ripple and he chanted in Latin. A portal formed and the Monk beckoned for her to enter. Claire gave a half hearted smile and stepped in, keeping her eyes closed. She heard noises, people talking. Softly at first until it grew that it was so loud she had to cover her ears. Then it stopped, she opened her eyes slowly and lowered her arms. She looked around, totally unaware of where she was. She saw the large fence that surrounded her and realised, My god this is Sunny Rest Cemetery. She slowly walked towards a mausoleum. Before she could move she felt hands around her neck. Out of the corner of her eyes she could see who her attacker was. "Oh great," she mumbled "I come back in time and end up being caught by Dru, loony of the centuries."

"Ooh," Dry whispered "you've got secrets. You're not from now."

"No kidding," Claire snapped back. She tried to move but Dru held her still, Darla came out from behind the mausoleum "Who's this?"

"She's got secrets. I can see Angel," Dru babbled.

"Certainly looks like him, the hair. Of course Angel has dark brown eyes, she has Hazel," Darla corrected her. Claire noticeably relaxed when she saw Buffy with some blonde guy, a couple of gravestones away.

"So, who are you?" Darla asked.

"I'm Claire," she replied and as Buffy came up from behind "and your history." Darla stepped back shocked and ran into Darla. Both Darla and Dru ran, dropping Claire with a thud. Buffy stood there in shock "That was, was. She's dead, dust, how?" she stammered. Claire stood up shaking dirt from her top.

"Are you okay?" Buffy asked when she finally recovered from the shock.

"Yeah, thanks Mum," she replied without thinking.

"What did you say?" Buffy asked surprised.

"Ah, that wasn't fun," Claire made up. Buffy shook her head, maybe she had just imagined seeing Darla.

"Did you recognise those vampires?" Riley asked.

"Yeah. One was Spike's loony ex and the other looked like, a vamp I saw dusted ages ago," Buffy replied, trying not to bring up Angel.

"Then how can she still be here?" Riley asked generally confused.

"She got summoned from Hell stupid, and who in the hell are you?" Claire told Riley. Then to Buffy "Maybe some one should tell her vampire childe."

"Angel?" Buffy asked. How did this kid know so much and why did she look so much like Angel?

"That's the idea," then trying not to sound to obvious "I mean he should know."

"What's Angel got to do with this," Riley asked.

"Don't worry about it, look I'll talk to you later," Buffy told him.

"Okay," Riley said and left. Claire smiled as he left.

"Okay, fess up," Buffy told her.

"God, you never change?" Claire told her.

"What do you mean?" Buffy asked.

"It's not important."

"Why do you know so much, I don't even know you."

Claire couldn't help but smile "I'm Claire and wait a few years."

"Why do I get the feeling you know more than your letting on?"

"Cause. I do."

"Your not going to tell me anything are you?" Buffy said defeated.

"You have no idea how much I want to though."

"Where are you staying?"

Claire mentally smacked her self, she hadn't thought of that "um, near here."

"Okay, I have a feeling I'm going to see you again, so are you right to get back?"

"Yeah, thanks," Claire responded. Buffy walked back towards UC Sunnydale and thought she heard Claire say "Mum."

Claire was more than grateful when she arrived at the Mansion on Crawford St. There wasn't much furniture in there but it was empty, so it would do. The coolest thing, Angel hadn't changed the locks so her key worked.

Everyone was eager to know more about Claire after Buffy's story.

"Well, I suggest you follow her advice and ring Angel," Giles said. Buffy went into the next room and called Angel on the new number she got from directory. Cordelia put her through, "Yeah," Angel answered the phone.

"Angel, it's me, Buffy," she stammered.

He softened immediately "Buffy, hi. Is there something wrong?"

"Yeah. I just got a visit from Dru, and your sire."

He cursed silently "I'm sorry. I thought they were still in L.A, I'll come down tonight."

"Okay. You don't have to, I can deal with it," she reassured him.

"I'm sure you can, but I want to. But, um, then why did you call?"

"Claire told me to."

"Who's Claire?"

"You don't know her?"

"Never heard of her." He replied. So Buffy told him what happened last night, and how she guessed he must of told her that stuff.

"Sounds like she needs a good old interrogation to me," he said.

Buffy laughed "I thought Investigators did that?"

Angel too chuckled for the first time in a long while "Well, what do you know."

Angel could sense someone in the mansion as soon as he entered. He put down his bag and slowly approached the couch. He tapped the figure on the couch on the shoulder. Claire jumped up from the couch, turned around and dropped into a fighting stance which he recognised as Buffy's. "I think I'm meant to be attacking you. You know how you're in my house and all," Angel told her.

Claire relaxed when she saw who it was "Probably, but you're not going to," she replied and dropped back on the couch. Angel walked around and sat on a recliner opposite the couch "and why is that?"

"Because, I'm not a threat. And your soul wouldn't agree and your not human yet," she told him.

Angel was shocked, how did she know about the prophecy? Who was she, then it dawned on him "Your Claire."

"Very good," Claire said. "Sorry, but I'm never going to get another chance to be a smart arse to you without paying, so bear with me please."

"How do you know so much, and have you told Buffy about-" Angel started.

"The prophecy. No, you're going to. Otherwise I'm going to bring it up at an awkward moment. Actually I think I'll bring it up in front of Soldier boy," she said.

Angel smiled his trademark crooked smile "I take it you don't like him either."

"Got that in one, what is his deal?"

"Talking of deals, what's yours?"

"You don't need to know."

"Actually I do."

"Well, tough. Cause you can't know."

"That's not good enough," he told her sternly.

"Whoa, Déjà vu," she said.

"I need to know something, I mean your in my house, I haven't attacked you yet.

I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt."

Claire groaned "I can't tell you. I want to, but I can't, not that the PTB actually gave me a reason for not telling you."

"The powers that be, your a messenger?"

"No, well sort of. I have a mission. But I'll tell you this, I'm not from now. I'm sort of speeding up things, for a good reason. I'm not threat, why do you always have to be so cautious Dad?"

"What did you call me," Angel asked wandering if he heard right.

"Um, nothing," Claire said, hoping he would believe her.

Angel crossed his arms impatiently, "Try again."

"I'm not allowed to tell you who I am. But seeing I don't have much of choice here, you're not allowed tell anyone who I am. Especially Buffy."

"So who are you?" Angel asked impatiently, getting up from his chair and sitting next to Claire.

Claire looked at him and sighed. "I'm from," she paused, how could she say it "the future, your future to be exact."

Angel couldn't help the smile that came over his face "So, you did call me-" Claire also smiled "Dad."

Angel put his arm around her and gave her a hug, he let go then looked at her

"Wow," was all he could say.

"Before you ask, Buffy is my mother. And your soul is bound and you turn human soon, but I'm here because I can make it sooner," Claire explained.

"Okay, and how?"

"Remember how the Morah demon said 'together you are powerful, alone you are dead'?"

"Yeah."

"Well if your stronger you're going to do more good aren't you?" Claire said with a smile. Angel nearly laughed at himself, it was so obvious why did he ever leave?

"So," Claire continued handing him a stake "I think it's time you moved on from your brooding effort with Darla and Dru, and moved on to Mum."

"Just not with a stake," Angel joked.

Claire punched him in the arm and they both went to the cemetery.

Buffy and the others stood waiting in the cemetery. Buffy was clearly worried that Angel was late.

"I'm sure dead boy's fine," Xander comforted her.

"Yeah, I just don't know what held him up," Buffy said.

Darla and Dru came out from behind some trees. "Maybe it was that little girl with the attitude problem," Darla suggested.

"She's got secrets," Dru stated.

"She didn't open up to you either, what a surprise," Buffy quipped. She whipped a stake from her belt and twirled it in her fingers. What Buffy and the others weren't expecting were the army of vampires that emerged from Darla and Dru's previous spot. It all happened fast, the Vampires attacked and the Scooby Gang striked back. Buffy was thrown into the fight and Darla took the opportunity to sneak around her back. Buffy kicked and staked the vampire in front of her, and was not prepared for Darla's attack. Darla kicked her legs from under her, and grabbed her by the neck. "I don't like to sound possessive, but he's mine," Darla told her. Buffy struggled with the lack of air on her lung and tried to struggle but she was stuck.

Just as Darla lowered her head to Buffy's neck, Angel came up behind Darla "No, I'm not yours Darla, I'm hers."

"What," Darla cried as she was staked and turned to nothing more than a pile of dust. Buffy dropped to the ground with a thump, the few remaining vampires fled saw what had happen and fled along with Dru.

Spike came from behind a Mausoleum and said "Sorry Dru, it's for your own good. He laughed and staked her. Angel knelt beside Buffy and scooped her into his arms. He tenderly stroked her hair out of her face and asked, "Are you alright?" "I am now," she replied. Angel helped her up and looked around. "What are you looking for?" she asked.

"Claire," he answered.

"She must have left, I was expecting to see more of her," Buffy said.

Angel smiled "Trust me, you will," he promised.

The others went home, Riley extremely hurt and angry, while Buffy and Angel walked to his place. Once inside they started kissing madly, holding each other and feeling each other, making up for lost time. After a while Buffy pulled back and rested her forehead on his "We better stop," she panted.

"No, we don't have to, I have news," he replied, his voice raw with need.

"You do?"

"My soul is bound, and soon I'm going to be human again," he told her. Buffy didn't need to respond with words, her body actions answered for her as she pushed him onto the couch and they resumed their previous kissing.

Claire looked through the window and smiled, although most of her was grossed out by the fact her parents were making out on the couch, the rest was just pleased they were together again and that Riley was gone. She sighed and took the powder out of its container. She poured some in her hands and went round to the door.

Inside they heard the knock on the door "Who could that be?" Buffy asked breathlessly.

"They won't be there for long," Angel replied as he got up and started re-buttoning his shirt. He opened the door to find Claire "Oh hey."

"Hi," I'm just telling you that I'm going now and have fun and all," she said gesturing to his half-naked chest.

"Yeah, um thanks," Angel said.

"That's okay, my pleasure. After all it really was my butt on the line," she joked.

"I'll try not to tell Buffy," he promised.

"That's okay, you won't remember," she replied and held up her palm of bluish powder. She blew it in his face and chanted "Days go by, memories stay. But what I've told, will not remain." Angel was temporally stunned by the powder and did not see Claire walk away to return to her time. In a minute or so, he snapped back and shook his head. Buffy came out and asked, "What's wrong, who was it."

"Angel looked at her, "Nothing, and, I can't remember."

"You were talking to some one."

"I can't remember a thing about it," he replied worried.

"Well that's okay, I'm sure you remember what we were doing."

"Sure do," he grinned and shut the door.

The End
